Residents of Muswell Hill and East Finchley are being asked by Police to be extremely vigilant at this time. A team of bogus builders are operating a ‘water leak’ scam in the area and conning residents out of thousands of pounds.
An elderly lady from the Fortis Green area was conned out of £4,600 last month. The bogus builders lifted tiles and poured water into the house, which ran down the walls inside the house. The builders convinced the elderly lady that the work urgently needed to be done, she then handed over the money.
The lady said that the builders were very convincing and gave her several reasons to believe their claims and they promised to refund the deposit when the works were completed.
The Police are looking for two white males one in his 30’s and the other in his 50’s they were driving a white van with a ladder on the roof.
